We are currently seeking to recruit a General Manager. The person appointed will be an experienced and adaptive team-leader and will be capable of contributing to the overall development of the business
General Manager key areas of responsibility will include:
Profitability and Finance:
- Responsible for managing, running and growing the business profitably
- Own full P&L responsibilities to ensure profitability while maintaining exemplary customer satisfaction levels
- 2 year rolling Business Plan agreed with the MD/Advisory Board
- Annual Budget and the Business Cash Flow management
- Report key performance metrics on a monthly basis to management
- Provide leadership and drive activities to ensure approved projects, capital investment and expense budgets are achieved
- Work with Finance Department to provide required data for the generation and analysis of monthly KPI’s
- Work with MD and Financial Department to develop/implement corrective actions/ improvement programs
- Create annual operating plans that support strategic direction set by the Managing Director/Board and correlates with annual operating budgets
- Submits annual plans to the Managing Director/Board for approval
- Maintain and foster the highly collaborative culture which exists at JJ O’Toole Ltd, and drive a spirit of superior work quality and success
- Perform other related managerial tasks, as requested by the Managing Director to assist in achieving organisational goals
Operations:
- Responsible for all people and processes necessary to support the Company
- Responsible for implementation by company employees of all Company’s policies and procedures
- Lead operations initiatives to develop, implement and drive continuous improvement in our systems
- Work closely with management team members to ensure that customer needs are understood, determine priorities and monitor standards to ensure those needs are met
- Planning and allocating resources to ensure optimisation of customer service targets, inventory levels, procurement delivery and costs. Promotes quality and customer satisfaction as a way of life in all department activities
- Work with the MD on the development of new business opportunities and the strategic direction of the business
- Drive the evaluation and development of new technologies, including IT, to meet business efficiency needs
Customer Facing:
- Represent the company to existing and potential customers at the highest levels with confidence and authority
- Assures that the organisations operations and products/services are consistently presented in a strong, positive image to relevant stakeholders
Leadership:
- Review, coach, counsel and provide leadership to team to ensure that all departments are operating to peak performance
- Lead motivate and develop a team to achieve the business goals and drive business
- Promote a culture that reflects the organization’s values and encourages good performance
- Develop a positive and participative community culture within the business
- Manage employee relations issues to optimise company performance: employee communication, performance management, problem solving
Person Specification:
- Minimum of 8 years financial experience at the appropriate level. Prior experience in similar business type is preferable
- The ideal candidate will have a financial background preferably in a SME industry where high quality standards are required for success
- Experience of P&L management with excellent financial and commercial acumen
- Excellent negotiating skills and business judgment
- Ability to present and report on relevant business information
- They will possess a capacity to concentrate on detail and be target focused while still having a solid understanding of the bigger picture
- Strong organisational and time management skills with flexibility and the ability to innovate
- Entrepreneurial-minded with an internal drive to continuously hit goals and succeed
- A proven track record of overseeing day-to-day operations as well as implementation of overall revenue growth and profitability improvement processes
- The ability to manage in a diverse environment with a focus on client and customer service
- Experience excelling within fast-paced, high-energy environments
- Benchmarking against relevant businesses & Identify further business opportunities
- Prior experience of managing a team of + 25 people
- Dynamic, motivating, and relationship-driven management approach, along with a strong attention to detail
- Recruit, train, and develop teams to ensure an optimal experience for clients and suppliers
- Results Focused Analytical Thinker
- Excellent IT knowledge and skills imperative
- Excellent communicator at all levels while bringing professionalism to the business
- Proven track record in operations, human resources and health and safety management
